We Were Presenters at TCCA Conference

We (Cindy and I) were thrilled, overwhelmed, and nervous when they accepted our proposal over the summer for being presenters at the TCCA conference on October 26, 2019.

We went to work putting together the presentation.  We planned to make matching shirts, but life gets in the way when we make plans.  YES we were up til midnight the night before the presentation doing crafts... making our "teacher bestie" shirts.

We shared our love for crafts and using a Cricut machine with about 30 teachers!  It was exciting to know that 64 or more teachers wanted to add it to their schedule.  We did have to turn people away because there wasn't enough chairs, but we did share our pamphlet with our presentation information.

We also attended some other classes before and after our session.  Visiting the vendors was part of the process, so we had to collect 6 signatures in order to receive one of the stickers on our certificates.

Keynote Speaker - Hamish Brewer
He was awesome and very motivational.  I wish all principals felt the same was as he does.  He seems to really understand what is going on with education, how teachers feel, and what changes need to be made to the system.

8:45 - When Bookworms meet Technology with Google Slides and Forms
This class was a great!  It was face-paced and they share a lot of information on how to have students doing activities that will keep them engaged and using technology tools.  One cool thing I learned was about this https://byrdseed.com/emoji/ website.  It seems like a really neat tool for the kids to use for their writing.

9:45 - Basic Components of Grant Writing
This class was very informative.  These ladies had some good information about what to do and not do with grant writing.

10:45 - Teachers Who Cricut
Our class!  If you want more details, let me know!

11:45 - Lunch (Provided by PotBelly)

12:45 - Full STEAM Ahead
We used Osmo and rotated to different activities.  It was really fun and engaging.  I met a kindergarten teacher who uses Osmo in her classroom.  She shared some good ideas with me!

1:45 - "Hey Google" - Keep, Task, and Calendar Insight
There are features in these apps that can do lots of cool helpful useful functions.

At the end of the conference, we went to the closing session where they gave away 1 million dollars in prizes.  It was a bummer that neither of us won anything, but we still had a BLAST!
